Pretty in Pink

I made three baby girl quilts with Amy Butler fabric. These are rag quilts, so on the front side you can see the frayed edges. I also bound the edges with satin blanket binding rather that just having more frayed edges. I was a bit pressed for time so I didn't have time to get pictures of the back of the quilts, so these shots will have to do.

Cake!

We had a half-birthday party for DD#2 this weekend. The cake was wonderful she and her daddy made an Alice Waters chocolate cake. I decorated it with butter cream frosting and it came out just so cute that I had to post a picture here.

Matching bag

I had a little extra fabric from making my skirt. I used a little pink fabric to line the inside. It works great for carrying a few things.

barcelona skirt

Here is the skirt I just finished today. The pattern is a Amy Butler pattern called Barcelona. I made the layered version. The layers have raw edges which should continue to fray and make a nice edge.

More Bags

I created this little bag to use up the purple yarn that had been sitting around my house for a very long time. I really liked the yarn, but only had a very little bit of it. The cloth portion of the bag is made of two layers of cloth and one layer of canvas so it is stiff enough to hod its shape.
This bag is from Amy Butler's book Institches. I am really enjoying the projects from this book and I love all of her fabrics. This bag is going to be a gift for someone.

with how this project turned out. I made a Laundry Bag from the Institches by Amy Butler. I also used some Amy Butler fabric for the project. Here are the fabrics all washed and ironed and ready to go.

Here is the finished project. It has canvas between the outer and liner fabric so it is quite sturdy. My only concern is how it will wash up, but sense all the fabric has been pre-washed I hope it will maintain it's good looks for years to come.

Two more projects completed

I finished these both last week, but since I have been tied up with jury duty my computer time has been short. The first pic if of two pillow cases that I embroidered. I really enjoyed doing them and they look so romantic.







Here a wool skirt that I just finished just in time for summer! In my defense I bought the fabric in the fall and cut out all the pieces at that time. I even got so far as to sew all the seams together (with French seams I might add), but I interruped this project to make the kids Halloween costumes. Well six months or so later I put in the zipper, waistband and hem. Talk about a quick job, but on the plus side I do have a new skirt for fall which is only four or five months away depending on the weather.
